Italy is certainly one of the most fascinating countries in the world, and one of the most visited. It has a variety of charms, from its history dating back to more than two thousand years, to marvellous architecture, mountains with some of Europe’s best skiing slopes and blue seas which are hard to forget.
One of the main charms of Italy is its diversity, both in culture, food and climate. The fact that the country has been united only in the mid 1800s means also that there is no recognized focal city: there are several big cities of varying cultural importance, and there are literally hundreds of minor towns which, in spite of their size, are well worth a visit.
Visiting Italy might take some time, especially if you think that it can take more than a couple of weeks to visit cities like Rome, Venice or Florence "properly". But it certainly is an experience you’ll never forget, wherever you go.
